Joe Aguirre is a freelance cameraman and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He has produced and photographed documentary shorts in Palestine for the New York Times and in rural Montana for PBS. He lensed BANANAS!* for WG Film director Fredrik Gertten and is the cinematographer of Brian Maguire, a documentary film profiling the work of the Irish painter and human rights activist. In addition to his documentary work, Joe has shot 2nd Unit on award winning commercials for ESPN, Pepsi, Nike and Microsoft, and music videos for Lady Gaga, Green Day and My Chemical Romance. He was a camera operator on Sony Pictures feature films Quarantine and Obsessed, and on Jack Johnson’s 2008 European Tour documentary.
Next Year Country, an ITVS-funded documentary he directed and shot, will be his feature length directorial debut.
